Collagraph is over!
Now collagraph is over.. :( I really enjoyed it I have to say. My favourite piece of art I made has to be the black and grey elephant :) Now we have two weeks holidays and straight into silkscreen when we're back.

The last few of my prints.
These are just the rest of my collagraph prints I did. :)
My favourite ones are the elephant ones :) I'm really happy with how they turned out!
More prints!
The next few prints were of the heart board I made! I made another board as well so I could combine the two!
Finally started printing.
So I finally started printing this week! I really didn't know it would
take so long to make the boards. So here are the prints I ended up with
:) some worked.. some didn't :/

I'm just glad these ones were just for experimenting. :P
More ideas.
I kind of started to lean away from the whole characteristics idea and
wanted to start making boards on things I like! I have to say I love
elephants and cup cakes. Weird combination but that's why I wanted to
use them I was hoping it would be different to every one else! I also
LOVE my animals at home! So I made some boards of cupcakes and elephants
(not together although I did think about it) and one of my cat and dog
:D

Ideas.
I did some random boards just to get a feel for what worked and what didn't. Just to have some fun before I began my actually boards.
I was a bit stuck for ideas at the beginning but now I have some. I'm thinking of doing some stuff on my characteristics, as in big-hearted, talkative, funny, blah blah blah! So I made a 'big hearted' collagraph board and I used paint as the material to make the heart because as well as print I also love painting! So I left some obvious brush strokes on the heart.

RESEARCH!
Now the first week is all about research! So I researched collagraph! Collagraph is a printmaking process in which materials are applied to a rigid substance. To be honest I had no idea what collagraph was before we started :/ Suzannah O' Reilly is tutoring us on collagraph :) and we got a demonstration on what to do, how to do it, and so on. So she showed us you need collagraph boards and what ever materials you what as long as they are near paper thin because if they are too thick they won't print through the press and will just tear the paper you're using. I've been researching collagraph artists such as Eunice Kim, Marja-Leena Rathje, Kim Major-George, Barbara Garrison and many more.

And we begin!
So I got into print! WOO! :) We got our brief from Des today! It's about 'Notions of Identity'... We were told our last few weeks would be broken up, 3 weeks of collagraph, 3 weeks of silkscreen and 2 final weeks of woodblock! Did I metion I have no idea what collagraph is? Great start eh? So lets get down to business ;)
